Martin Auer started his career as a scientist

Martin Auer started his career as a scientist: He studied biochemistry and cell biology at the Technical University of Munich.

He then completed his doctoral thesis in a virological research group at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried near Munich.

It was about a lot of cell culture work, protein chemistry and of course molecular biological work on different viruses and cell lines.

Already during his doctoral thesis he completed many different training courses for marketing and sales. The fields of marketing and sales soon became very attractive to him.

After a brief PostDoc phase, he left the lab to take up his first job as a field-based sales guy. He focused on the lucrative instrument sales from the beginning.

Martin Auer: From natural sciences to marketing, sales and leadership

It quickly became clear to Martin Auer that he had started his career in sales in the midst of major changes and upheavals in sales and distribution: many of the methods that were being trained in the standard training seminars and taught in sales training at this time, no longer really reflect the requirements.

The DNA of selling seemed to have changed.

It seemed that customers simply had different expectations and were able to demand them.

There was, so to speak, a mismatch between the standard methods that had apparently worked successfully for a long time and the (new) reality.

So Martin Auer began to think about it intensively and to crystallize the success factors for selling and for the distribution in today's world in the further course of his work. It turned out that these success factors were sometimes very different from what you could read about these topics in books and learn in trainings.

Postgraduate-MBA-study focused on sales and leadership

Several years later, he worked on his master thesis as part of his postgraduate MBA of general management. He researched the success factors in sales and he formulated them using the example of imaging instruments in the German, European and worldwide market.

Foundation of the company Science Sales Academy

After many successful years in sales in different markets and hundreds of successful sales projects, after many years of training for salespersons and other business areas, Martin Auer founded his own company. With his Science Sales Academy, he now offers consulting, training and seminars for sales, sales, leadership, personal development and management. Everywhere where scientists and technicians work in business environments.

He has always been motivated by the omnipresent paradigm shift in sales, driven by the idea that, first, sales today works differently than it did 30 and 10 years ago, and second, that selling to scientists, technicians, and engineers poses special challenges.

Against this background, the Science Sales Academy was born.
